Barcelona Festivals: Sa Pobla in Gràcia

This weekend the funky neighborhood of Gràcia in Barcelona hosts an equally funky festival - Sa Pobla. This popular festival honors Saint Anthony (Sant Antoni), the patron saint of animals. Mallorcan culture is also celebrated in the form of traditional foods (think tasty Sobrasada) and festivities. "Los Foguerons" (the bonfires) are perhaps the most famous part of the Sa Pobla festival.

It seems that Catalan festivals are not complete unless there is a correfoc (fire run).  And if people wearing devil horns running through the streets with fireworks wasn't enough fire for one evening, you can find nine bonfires throughout Gràcia. The correfoc begins on Saturday the 30th of January 2010 at 8:30 pm. The bonfires are on the same evening; beginning at 9:30 pm.
